C’è spazio anche per la tragedia che arriva improvvisa e cambia le carte in tavola, come l’amore. Forse sono proprio le due amiche l’elemento meno verosimile del romanzo, tra i molti che non si può fare a meno di notare. C’è un eccesso di sicurezza nella loro adolescenza, nella capacità di esercitare il potere della bellezza, e anche tutto sommato nel modo disinvolto, quasi indifferente con cui Anna vive l’amore con Mattia, un ragazzo tanto più grande di lei. Comunque alla fine un piccolo elemento di speranza deriva proprio dalla loro capacità di riannodare l’amicizia dopo un distacco che pareva incolmabile.

Un romanzo in cui ho fatto un po’ di fatica a entrare, soprattutto a causa di una scrittura non sempre gradevole né convincente. Però poi rimane dentro, quella Piombino divisa tra aria di mare e fumi d’altoforno è difficile da dimenticare. C’è sicuramente una forza in Silvia Avallone, un piglio deciso che forse non ha ancora trovato il suo equilibrio ma rende interessante la sua opera prima.

Credevo di aver già fatto un articolo su questa band dato che l'ascolto da moltissimo e l'ho più volte messa nella mie compilation,invece mi sono reso conto di non averne mai parlato in un singolo post.
Band composta da due persone con la potenza sonora di un orchestra,gli Screen Vinyl Image mischiano sonorità electro pesantissime, quasi industrial, ai suoni shoegaze e noise di tastiere e chitarre.
Questo mix permette alla band di non ''puzzare'' di già sentito e soprattutto di non sembrare,come moltissime band attuali,la brutta copia di My Bloody Valentine e Jesus And Mary Chain.
Il loro suono è cupissimo,scuola Joy Division nella voce e A Place To Bury Strangers nei suoni,potenti arrangiamenti analogici solcati da voci shoegaze e ritmi ossessivi contornati da atmosfere decisamente sci-fi. Dopo l'intro meraviglioso e futuristico intitolato "Synthetic Apparition",si passa alla devastante "Cathode Ray",canzone fredda, spietata ed androide.Con questa atmosfera poi si procede fino alla fine del disco.
C'è poi da notare l'ammirevole mixaggio e master di Interceptors,disco che acusticamente pur essendo stato completamente registrato in casa dagli stessi musicisti con apparecchiature a basso costo,non ha niente da invidiare alle produzioni più grandi e professionali.
